This incident takes place about five weeks into my purchasing of Amigos Dive Center. I think the issue was caused by the sudden drop in temperature causing O-ring failure from the first or second stage. It was February and nearly 11 PM temperatures at night can get into the 20(F) -6 to -1(C) I was near the end of refilling the bank. I was returning from were I store the Empty O2 bottles and I noticed the Haskel booster pump was not cycling so I reached up and turned off the drive gas valve and well the rest is history. If you will notice I was wearing hearing protection until shrapnel from the booster pump hit the head band of the ear muffs and it broke into two pieces hence why I was rubbing my head. I had a small bump on my head and a scratch that was all. I had to replace three tanks valves and of course the Haskel which is now on display next to the replacement booster. I would like to mention my wife’s four second response time to the explosion she was surprised to see I was still standing and largely unharmed.
